Being a parent to teens is bittersweet during the holidays. On the one hand, my teenagers are no longer eagerly scouting the toy catalogs to find the best toys of the year to add to their Christmas list. On the other hand, having teenagers also means I get full access to the coolest trends. I've learned the way to a teen's heart is through skincare and beauty products, so I'm taking advantage of Sephora's annual sale to stock up on some holiday gifts.
From now through November 11, you can score up to 30% off on the Sephora Collection and up to 10% off on teen-approved skincare brands, like Laniege, Saie, and Glow Recipe with the code “SAVINGS.” However, you must be a Sephora Beauty Insider—a free loyalty program with exclusive rewards, sales, and more— to take part in the sale. Below, you’ll find 14 Sephora sale picks from my teen daughter, starting at just $8.
Sephora Collection Mini Butterfly Beauty Eye Brush Set
A 50% sale on top of a site-wide sale for this four-piece eye makeup brush applicator set from Sephora almost feels too good to be true. The brushes are mini, making them ideal for teens on the go (or for those who lose everything, including my daughters). They’re made with synthetic bristles, and the set includes a crease brush, shadow brush, smudge brush, and liner brush.
Summer Fridays The Holiday Lip Butter Balm Set
According to my 16-year-old daughter, Summer Fridays’ lip balms are hot holiday picks because they "don't taste gross" like some sticky lip balms, making your lips feel "very silky." While I’ve never heard of this lip balm, she promises me that this holiday gift set is a great deal because you get three for what one would normally cost.
The balms have shea and murumuru seed butter and vegan waxes for moisturizing, and the kit contains three flavors: pink sugar, cherry, and sweet mint. Remember: You can score 10% off this gift set using the code “SAVINGS” at checkout.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo
I can’t keep dry shampoo stocked fast enough in my house. My girls and I have hair that gets oily quickly, so dry shampoo is a must-have. I've tried a lot of brands, and Living Proof is one of my favorites because it works effectively, smells great, and is free of parabens, sulfates, and silicones.
Touchland Power Mist Hydrating Hand Sanitizer
I love stocking up on these hand sanitizers whenever they go on sale because my teens love how "aesthetic" they are, and I love how effective they are. As a former hospital nurse, I can attest that they both sanitize and moisturize. After years of using hand sanitizer, I'm a pro at recognizing the moisturizing kind and appreciate the dual functionality.
They come in 13 great-smelling scents, from vanilla blossom to velvet peach to wild watermelon.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is popular on social media and works by applying it at night and then removing it in the morning to reveal silky-smooth lips. "I personally use this product every night, and it really does keep my lips very moisturized," notes my Laneige-loving teen, surprising me, her mother, who had no idea she owned this product.
However, now that I know, I can stock up on a stocking stuffer gift while it's on sale. My savvy teen says they have some "cute, festive new flavors" for the holidays, like eggnog latte and candy cane.
Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter
My teens are big fans of liquid highlighters, and my daughter says the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter is her favorite option because it's "lighter than actual foundation but still gives coverage." The full-size version comes in 12 different radiant finish shades, while the mini version comes in four. "This would be a great gift for your teen who probably can't afford it on their own," she points out.
Saie Dew Blush Liquid Cream Blush
Saie liquid cream blushes are my girls' favorites because of their buildable, blendable color. "I think their colors are really pretty, and I like how these blushes also make you look very glowy after you put them on," my daughter notes. "The cream blush gives a nice dewy look, and that's why I like them so much."
The blushes are silicone, fragrance-free, and full of plant-derived ingredients, like elderberry fruit and licorice root extracts. This option comes in eight colors, including warm dusty rose and bright coral.
Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Luminous Powder Blush
For teens who prefer powder blush over cream options, this Rare Beauty blush has built-in shimmer, allowing it to serve as a blush and highlighter in one. The mineral-based blush is paraben-free and comes in six shades, from terracotta to mauve maroon.
"I know the liquid blushes get a lot of hype, but this is one of my favorite products they [Rare Beauty] have," my 16-year-old comments. "I love how pretty it looks on."
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Hue Drops Sun Glow Serum
Sephora explains that these Watermelon Glow drops are a "multi-use serum" designed to brighten the skin over time and provide a buildable tinted serum for a healthy glow. (Translation: this is our teen's version of the tanning booth, and it's much safer than how we achieved our glow.)
My teen explains that these are tanning drops similar to the Drunk Elephant Bright Illuminating Drops. "It gives you a nice little bronze while also leaving you glowy for the rest of your makeup," she adds. "I would love this, especially during the winter when you need to feel a little sun-kissed."
Sephora Favorites Skincare Must-Haves Kit
This Sephora-exclusive kit, valued at $163, contains 10 popular name-brand products, including sunscreen, eye cream, toner, moisturizer, and body cream. The price, quality, and assortment of name-brand products in this kit are very appealing—my daughter, for instance, was super excited that it contained both Drunk Elephant and Glow Recipe products.
"This kit comes with a bunch of skincare that's very popular at the moment, so if your teen has a lot of different skincare items on their list, this could be a great gift," she (wisely) shared.
Sephora Favorites Precious Pouts Lip Set
This set is a Sephora-exclusive option that contains lip glosses and liners with leading brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Glossier, and Rare Beauty. The kit features a cute and fuzzy pouch and four full-size, four mini-sized, and one deluxe-size lip product.
"If your teen is really into different lip combos and lipsticks, this would be a great gift,' my teen comments. "I like this one because it comes with a variety of lip liners, glosses, tints, and colors."
Refy Glow and Sculpt Face Serum Primer with Niacinamide
Apply this Refy makeup primer underneath makeup to help it last longer. I may pick one up for myself because it has a built-in facial roller on the bottom that can apply the product and work to depuff areas like under-eye circles. Admittedly, I doubt whether my teens experience this issue, but I digress.
My daughter loves the idea of this primer because she hates typical applicators that can leave the product on your hands. And if you're concerned about buying a makeup applicator every time you want the product, know that the packaging is recyclable through the company.
Total Coverage Blending Sponge Set
With four daughters in my house, I buy makeup blenders and applicators in bulk, so this set that includes two rounded blending sponges and two teardrop blending sponges is especially appealing. As an online-exclusive Sephora item, the sponges are best for liquid, cream, and powder makeup. The set also includes a recyclable, ventilated base that doubles as a drying stand when it's time to clean the sponges—a concept I'm still trying to teach my teens.
